Veitshöchheim, Germany - August 21, 2006 - We know. You learn. You know. PostgreSQL 8.1 Bootcamp in Germany, Nov. 13-17, 2006

Big Nerd Ranch Europe announces a new opportunity to participate in the popular PostgreSQL Bootcamp in Europe. The class, scheduled for November 13-17, is five days of intensive instruction on PostgreSQL 8.1 as a database solution for professional applications. Instructor Chris Campbell guides students through the ins and outs of PostgreSQL wherein, by the end of the week, attendees will emerge with advanced skills in PostgreSQL administration. Chris's engaging and energetic teaching style and rich experience in PostgreSQL development and administration positions him as an ideal instructor.

Students signing up before September 29, 2006 apply for the early bird fee and save Euro 200!

PostgreSQL has made a name for itself by providing a scalable, flexible and robust database solution. The syllabus covers the full range of PostgreSQL capabilities and is launched with an overview of building and installing a PostgreSQL server. Once that skill is mastered, the course leaps forward through a range of advanced features, including, but not limited to:

No previous experience in PostgreSQL is required, but given the intricate nature of the topic, students attending the class should have some background with the UNIX command line and administration, simple SQL statements, and basic programming concepts. The class structure is fluid and is designed to be practical for the students attending. Therefore, the class outline can be adjusted to accommodate the needs and real-world challenges facing participants.

Chris Campbell, veteran PostgreSQL 8.1 developer and bootcamp instructor, said, "By combining short periods of instruction with hands-on application of key concepts, students can eliminate what can be an exhausting and sometimes frustrating learning curve and emerge from the class leaders in the field of PostgreSQL. There are very few instances where such a small investment of time and money can translate that quickly into expertise and ultimately, cost savings to a company or organization."

Chris Campbell boasts an extensive background in database design and management in PostgreSQL 8.1 development. He has worked as lead programmer in a number of projects and software development, at Cisco Systems and other IT companies in the Atlanta area. Since assuming his role as PostgreSQL Bootcamp instructor, Chris has developed and fine-tuned the curriculum and instructional materials into one of the flagship courses in the Big Nerd Ranch schedule of classes. "Chris Campbell", commented Big Nerd Ranch founder, Aaron Hillegass, "has been proselytizing the wonders of PostgreSQL as an instructor for over three years and is unmatched for providing keen, insightful and highly adaptive instruction to database administrators."
